2022 Small Business Cybersecurity Series Kicks off February 22, Runs Through September
The Technology Association of Oregon, together with the Oregon Small Business Development Center and Mount Hood Community College, announced the 2022 Small Business Cybersecurity Series, which will be held on the 4th Tuesday of every month, February through September 2022. This is a free, virtual opportunity to learn the fundamentals of cybercrime and cybersecurity to better protect your business via one-hour sessions held each month.
The first session: Preparing for a Cyber Incident, kicks off Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. PT. For more information and to register, please visit here.
During this session, FBI special agent Phil R. Slinkard will teach you how to prepare for a cyber incident. The presentation will focus on what you should do before an incident occurs at your business. Attendees will learn the first two phases that businesses should undertake prior to a cyber incident — the “Understanding” and “Preparing” phases — which include:
- Gain an Understanding
- Establish Liaison
- Examine the legal requirements
- Establish/maintain cyber awareness
- Risk assessment to understand your vulnerabilities
- Prioritize based on risk and cost
- Monitoring
- Creating policies
- Develop a communication strategy, exploring legal and IR services
Who should attend? Business owners, management teams, cybersecurity professionals, and individuals within an organization responsible for cybersecurity, risk management, or information security.
